Israeli Strike in Gaza Claims 9 Children of Doctor On Duty

An Israeli airstrike in Gaza killed nine children of Dr. Alaa al-Najjar, a pediatric specialist at al-Tahrir Hospital, while she was treating victims of the ongoing conflict. The attack destroyed her home in Khan Yunis, leaving only rubble. Her husband and one child survived with injuries.

CGTN stringer footage from the scene showed Dr. al-Najjar’s brother-in-law, Ali al-Najjar, recounting the moment of the strike. “The blast was deafening – everything shook. By the time I reached their home, there was nothing left,” he said. The eldest child was 12 years old.

The tragedy underscores the escalating human cost of the conflict, particularly for medical workers caught between duty and personal loss. Dr. al-Najjar’s story has drawn international attention to the vulnerability of civilians and healthcare infrastructure in Gaza.
