Vietnamese Steel and Aluminum Workers Criticize U.S. Tariffs

On February 10, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing a 25-percent tariff on all steel and aluminum imports. This decision also removed all exemptions, quotas, and exclusions related to these tariffs, drawing widespread attention and eliciting strong reactions globally.

Workers in Vietnam's steel and aluminum industries, interviewed by CGTN Stringer, expressed their condemnation of the U.S. move. They highlighted that under a reciprocal tariff system, their industries would be at a significant disadvantage, facing greater challenges in the competitive global market.

The imposition of these tariffs is expected to impact trade relations and may lead to increased costs for Vietnamese exporters, potentially affecting the broader economic landscape of the region.
