Located in the southern central Pacific, Tuvalu is one of the smallest countries in the world, with a land area of 26 square kilometers and a population of around 11,200. Among its residents is Lilly Rose, a student deeply interested in Chinese culture, especially architecture and festivals.
Lilly Rose shares that China has played a significant role in infrastructure projects in the Pacific region. She notes that Chinese technology has greatly helped island countries like Tuvalu to tackle climate change. “China’s involvement has been instrumental in addressing our environmental challenges,” she says.
Her fascination with Chinese culture has inspired her to learn more about the country’s traditions. “Chinese architecture and festivals are so rich and vibrant; they have inspired me in many ways,” Lilly Rose adds.
As Tuvalu faces the pressing issue of climate change, students like Lilly Rose see the value in embracing cultural exchanges and technological partnerships with countries like China.
