Young Saudi Engineer Champions China-Saudi Cooperation Post-BRICS Entry

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia — At just 24 years old, Abdullah Alabbad is charting a course that exemplifies the future of international collaboration. An engineer by profession, Alabbad is actively involved in the Saudi Aramco Corporate Academy project, a venture undertaken by the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC).

“Working with CRCC has been a transformative experience,” Alabbad says with enthusiasm. “The emphasis on talent development has not only provided job opportunities for many but has also allowed me to enhance my skills in ways I never imagined.”

Through his work on the project, Alabbad has mastered advanced professional modeling software and honed his project management abilities. “These are skills that are invaluable in today’s globalized world,” he notes.

In January 2024, Saudi Arabia officially joined BRICS, a significant move that Alabbad believes will unlock immense potential for cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia. “The possibilities are endless,” he remarks. “From energy and infrastructure to smart cities and large-scale construction, there are so many areas where our countries can collaborate for mutual benefit.”

Looking ahead, Alabbad is optimistic about his role in this evolving partnership. “I hope to continue contributing to the growth and development of both nations,” he says. “As a member of Generation Z, I see a world where international cooperation is key to solving the challenges we face.”

Alabbad’s perspective reflects a broader trend among Saudi youth who are eager to engage with global partners. As the ties between China and Saudi Arabia strengthen, young professionals like Alabbad are poised to be at the forefront of this dynamic relationship.
