Over 30,000 Flee Lebanon to Syria Amid Israeli Attacks

Tens of thousands of people have fled from Lebanon to neighboring Syria over the past week to escape escalating Israeli attacks. Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees representative in Syria, stated on September 27 that more than 30,000 individuals had crossed from Lebanon into Syria over the previous three days.

A CGTN Stringer traveled to the border between Syria and Lebanon to interview families displaced by the conflict. Khalil Al-Bazid, one of the refugees, expressed how abruptly his life had changed. “We had a good lifestyle, and suddenly we became displaced,” he shared, highlighting the sudden upheaval faced by many.

The movement of people marks a significant shift in the region’s dynamics, as Syria becomes a refuge for those fleeing violence in Lebanon. The situation underscores the growing humanitarian crisis and the urgent need for international attention and assistance.

As tensions continue to rise, the displaced families hope for a return to normalcy. “All we want is peace and safety for our families,” Al-Bazid added.
