Tajikistan Welcomes Chinese President Xi Jinping as “Dear Guest”

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Thursday night, marking the beginning of a significant state visit aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries. His arrival follows a busy schedule at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The people of Tajikistan warmly welcomed President Xi, viewing his visit as an opportunity to strengthen ties across various sectors. Rustamjon Yuldashev, a museum director in Dushanbe, expressed his excitement, referring to President Xi as a “dear guest.” “We are honored to have President Xi in our country. His visit signifies the deepening friendship between our nations,” Yuldashev said.

Shavkat Sharipov, a professor at Khujand State University, highlighted the potential impact of the visit on future collaborations. “President Xi’s visit will be a new milestone in strengthening economic, trade, cultural, and scientific ties between Tajikistan and China,” Sharipov commented. “We anticipate enhanced cooperation that will benefit both our countries.”

China and Tajikistan have been fostering close relations in recent years, with China investing in various infrastructure projects within Tajikistan as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. President Xi’s visit is expected to further discussions on mutual interests, regional security, and economic partnerships.

The state visit underscores the significance of Central Asia in China’s foreign policy and its commitment to collaborative development in the region.
