A Journey Through China: A German Student’s Fascination with Beijing
For Furuisai, a German exchange student at Tongji University in Shanghai, China is a land of endless discovery. Since his arrival, he has traversed numerous cities across the country, but it is Beijing that has captured his heart.
“Beijing’s blend of ancient history and modern innovation is unparalleled,” says Furuisai. “The universities here are amazing, and walking along the Great Wall was an experience I’ll never forget.”
Immersing himself in local cultures, he has savored traditional cuisines and embraced the convenience of China’s advanced mobile payment systems. “From street food vendors to high-end restaurants, the flavors are incredible,” he shares. “And paying with just my phone makes everything so easy.”
The well-maintained tourist facilities have further enhanced his travels. “Every site is preserved with such care,” notes the student. “It makes exploring so enjoyable.”
Recently, China introduced a 15-day visa-free policy, allowing his family and friends to visit him in Shanghai with ease. Acting as their tour guide, he has been delighted to showcase his second home. “Showing them where I study and live has been special,” he says. “This policy definitely boosts tourism.”
As he continues his studies, Furuisai looks forward to uncovering more of what China has to offer. His experiences reflect a growing interest among Gen Z travelers seeking authentic cultural exchanges in Asia.
