Bahraini citizens are expressing high hopes for the future of their country’s relationship with China as King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa embarks on a significant state visit. From May 28 to June 1, King Hamad is visiting China and attending the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.

Bahrain, situated in the southwestern part of the Persian Gulf, has historical ties with China dating back to the 7th century AD through the maritime Silk Road. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations, and King Hamad’s visit—his first in 11 years—is seen as an important milestone in strengthening bilateral ties.

In recent interviews conducted by CGTN Stringer on the streets of Bahrain, local residents expressed admiration for China as a leader in technological innovation and as a country rich in history and cultural heritage. Many Bahrainis are optimistic about future collaborations in technology, trade, and industry, anticipating that strengthened ties will bring mutual benefits.

Local entrepreneurs have highlighted China’s remarkable advancements in technology, expressing eagerness for cooperation that can drive innovation and economic growth in Bahrain.

Students and youth are also excited about cultural exchanges. Many believe that increased interaction will enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of Bahrain and China.

The visit is expected to deepen strategic partnerships and explore new avenues of cooperation under initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative. As Bahrain and China look toward a future of enhanced collaboration, citizens from both countries are hopeful that this historic visit will pave the way for a prosperous shared future.
