Colombian Vlogger Explores China’s People-Centered Growth Philosophy

Beijing, China — Colombian vlogger Fernando Muñoz Bernal, who has called China home for 23 years, recently shared his insights on China’s people-centered development philosophy. As part of CGTN’s “Ask China Expats” campaign during the ongoing Two Sessions, Bernal answered questions from around the globe, including one from a Kenyan journalist curious about life in China.

Drawing from his personal experiences, Bernal highlighted how China’s extensive high-speed rail network has transformed the lives of its residents. “The 45,000 kilometers of high-speed rail lines have provided incredible opportunities for local people,” he remarked. While acknowledging that some routes may not be immediately profitable, he emphasized that the overall economy has benefited significantly from this expansive infrastructure.

Bernal contrasted this approach with that of other countries, noting, “In China, they build railway lines not just for profit but to benefit the people who live along them.” This strategy, he believes, reflects China’s commitment to prioritizing the well-being of its people over short-term financial gains.

The vlogger’s observations shed light on how China’s focus on long-term, inclusive growth has fostered economic development and improved quality of life. Through initiatives like the high-speed rail network, the nation continues to invest in projects that enhance connectivity and provide opportunities for communities across the country.

Bernal’s perspectives offer a unique glimpse into the daily realities of living in China and underscore the impact of the country’s development strategies on both local and global scales.
