Rafah Refugees Face Dire Shortages Amid Imminent Ground Operation

The refugees in Rafah, Gaza’s southernmost town, are facing severe shortages of basic necessities as Israel signals its intent to conduct a ground operation. The threat of an imminent invasion has turned Rafah into a focal point of international concern.

Living conditions have deteriorated rapidly. Access to food and water has become an extreme challenge for the displaced residents. Ibrahim, a refugee in Rafah, shared his struggle, recounting a lengthy journey in search of sustenance. “I try to forget the war and hope that things might improve,” he told CGTN.

The looming military operation aims to “eliminate” Hamas and rescue Israeli hostages, but it also poses a significant risk to the civilian population already grappling with hardship. As Rafah stands on the brink of becoming a battlefield, calls for humanitarian assistance and de-escalation are mounting from the international community.
