Originally from the Philippines, Dickenson Sy has always been captivated by Chinese culture. Now majoring in economics and finance at Tsinghua University in Beijing, his journey is a testament to his enduring passion.
Since childhood, Sy was drawn to the rich tapestry of Chinese food, movies, and traditional practices. His fascination was particularly sparked by the classic TV drama Journey to the West, whose exquisite storytelling and settings left a lasting impression on him.
In the summer of 2017, Sy participated in an educational tour in Xiamen, located in southeast China’s Fujian Province. This experience deepened his appreciation for the culture and solidified his determination to study in China.
At Tsinghua University, Sy not only pursues his academic interests but also immerses himself in the cultural experiences that first inspired him. He shares his journey and insights into Chinese culture, hoping to bridge understanding between his homeland and China.
