“Be optimistic and do some homework,” urged Chinese Ambassador to the U.S. Qin Gang at the Global Economic Summit in Indiana, addressing how U.S. companies can do business in China.
Ambassador Qin highlighted that while the global pandemic has had temporary impacts, China’s robust market demand remains strong. He encouraged American entrepreneurs to explore China’s development plans to uncover new opportunities in priority industries.
“Do some homework. They are open and transparent. They are on the Chinese government’s websites and social media. Find out how you can fit yourself in the development of the future of China,” Ambassador Qin advised.
He noted that Indiana excels in sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceutical products, and engine manufacturing—areas where China has significant market needs.
Regarding agriculture, Qin pointed out China’s desire to diversify food sources by increasing imports, especially after achieving the milestone of eliminating extreme poverty.
In the realm of medical products, he emphasized the growing priority of personal health among China’s expanding middle class, driving demand for health products. He mentioned that China is simplifying procedures for foreign pharmaceutical companies to enter the market.
For engine manufacturing, Ambassador Qin highlighted China’s leadership in producing new energy vehicles, which requires advanced, green engines with reduced emissions.
“Companies in the U.S. can just look at China’s blueprint and find areas where they can invest and profit,” he concluded.
