Shanghai resident Kaili never imagined that she would find herself in a temporary hospital battling COVID-19. After testing positive for the virus, she was swiftly moved to a quarantine facility where she has spent nearly two weeks adjusting to a new routine.
From the Onset of Symptoms to Quarantine
Kaili recalls the moment she suspected something was wrong. “I started feeling under the weather with a slight fever and cough,” she says. Concerned for her health and mindful of community safety, she decided to get tested. The positive result led to her immediate transition to the temporary hospital set up to manage the surge in cases.
Adapting to Life Inside the Temporary Hospital
The temporary hospital, a repurposed convention center, has become home to hundreds of patients like Kaili. “At first, it was overwhelming,” she admits. “But the medical staff have been incredibly supportive, and the facilities, while basic, meet our needs.”
Daily life revolves around scheduled activities aimed at both physical recovery and mental well-being. “We start the day with temperature checks and light exercises,” Kaili explains. “Meals are provided, and we have access to virtual consultations with doctors.”
Community and Connection
Despite the circumstances, Kaili emphasizes the sense of community among patients. “We’ve formed friendships here,” she says with a smile. “We share stories, encourage each other, and stay connected with our families through video calls.”
Reflections and Hopes for the Future
Kaili’s experience has been both challenging and enlightening. “This situation has taught me the importance of resilience and the incredible efforts of our healthcare workers,” she reflects. She looks forward to reuniting with her loved ones and resuming normal life, armed with a newfound appreciation for health and community support.
A Message to the Outside World
“I want people to know that while COVID-19 is a serious illness, solidarity and following health guidelines make a difference,” Kaili urges. “Stay safe, support each other, and trust that we will overcome this together.”
