Chinese Ambassador to the United States Qin Gang delivered a video speech at the “Happy Together” gala celebrating the New Year, hosted by the Federation of Alumni Associations of Chinese Universities and Colleges in Washington DC on Monday.
Ambassador Qin highlighted the significance of the event, which brought together numerous Asian groups from China, India, the Republic of Korea, Vietnam, and other nations. He emphasized that in the face of global challenges and difficulties, mutual understanding and respect among countries, nations, and races is essential for collaboration and creating a better future.
As the Year of the Tiger approaches, Ambassador Qin expressed his hope that everyone would embody the vigor and courage symbolized by the tiger to oppose prejudice and discrimination, working towards improving Sino-U.S. relations.
The event also featured congratulatory messages from Yumi Hogan, the First Lady of Maryland, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, and Congressman Jamie Raskin, who all extended their best wishes for the New Year.
