Ambassador Qin Gang Commemorates 80th Anniversary of Flying Tigers’ Aid to China

Chinese Ambassador to the U.S., Qin Gang, delivered a heartfelt video address commemorating the 80th anniversary of the arrival of the first American Volunteer Group, known as the “Flying Tigers,” who aided China during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

Ambassador Qin highlighted the profound friendship forged in blood between the Chinese and American people, embodied by the spirit of the Flying Tigers. “For 80 years, the story of the Flying Tigers has been passed down from generation to generation in China and the U.S.,” he said, noting the continuous exchange through exhibitions, memorial halls, treasured artifacts, and enduring relationships among veterans and their descendants from both countries.

Addressing the current challenges facing China-U.S. relations, Qin emphasized the importance of inheriting this historical friendship and mutual respect. He called for continued collaboration to jointly tackle global issues such as the pandemic, economic recovery, and climate change. “It is the responsibility of our two great nations to build a peaceful, prosperous, and stable world for future generations,” he stated. “This is exactly why we need to commemorate and carry forward the spirit of the Flying Tigers today.”
