Belarusian entrepreneur Olga Zelkovskaya has spent nearly a decade immersed in China’s dynamic landscape. After graduating from Peking University, she ventured to Chongqing in southwestern China to launch her international business. Through her work, Olga has found a unique lens to understand China’s rapid development and global initiatives.

“I’m always curious about China. I think my business is a good way to know about China,” she shared.

Olga’s journey has been intertwined with the opportunities presented by the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Recognizing the significant potential for countries along the BRI routes, she has leveraged these connections to expand her business horizons.

Beyond her entrepreneurial pursuits, Olga has traveled extensively across China, visiting provinces like Sichuan, Gansu, and Yunnan. In her travels, she witnessed firsthand how modern infrastructure, such as highways, and the rise of e-commerce have transformed remote areas.

“Seeing how people in remote regions can now sell their products and improve their livelihoods has been inspiring,” Olga said. “It’s remarkable how technology and development are bridging gaps and lifting communities out of poverty.”

Olga’s experiences reflect the broader story of China’s integration with global markets and its efforts to promote inclusive growth. Her personal and professional journey offers insight into the opportunities and changes underway in Asia’s largest economy.
