Brazilian journalist Igor Patrick has a message for the world: “Visit China at least once in your life.” Having lived and studied in China twice, Patrick’s experiences have profoundly transformed his outlook on life and the perceptions he once held.
“Living in China changed my mindset,” Patrick reflects. “Not only did I learn about Chinese culture, language, and policies, but I also discovered the unique characteristics of the Chinese people: their resilience, kindness, and patience.”
Patrick believes that firsthand experience is the key to overcoming misconceptions. “When you see the country with your own eyes, you abandon past prejudices,” he explains. “You start looking at problems from a different angle.”
He encourages global citizens, especially those who have never been to China, to take the opportunity to explore the nation’s rich heritage and rapidly evolving society. “China has so much to offer, and there’s no substitute for personal experience,” Patrick emphasizes.
Through his advocacy, Patrick hopes to bridge cultural gaps and foster a deeper understanding between China and the rest of the world. “It’s about connecting people and opening minds,” he says. “Everyone should have the chance to experience China for themselves.”
