In a significant milestone for Angola’s Cabinda province, China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) has completed the region’s first drinking water supply system. The Cabinda Water Supply Project, the largest of its kind under construction in Angola, is set to provide clean drinking water to approximately 110,000 households in the municipalities of Cabinda and Landana, benefiting more than 600,000 people.
“With the completion of this project, residents will no longer have to wait in long lines to purchase water,” said a CRCC official. “This development marks a new era of accessibility to clean water in the province.”
The project not only addresses critical water scarcity issues but also contributes to the local economy by creating employment opportunities. It is expected to generate 400 jobs, benefiting around 6,000 people in the community through direct and indirect employment.
Cabinda, located in the northern part of Angola, has faced challenges in accessing clean water due to limited infrastructure. The new water supply system aims to alleviate these issues, improving public health and quality of life for the residents.
The CRCC’s involvement underscores the growing cooperation between Angola and China in infrastructure development. By investing in essential services like water supply, such partnerships are fostering sustainable development and strengthening economic ties.
