China’s leading building materials company, China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. (CNBM), held its first online open day event at the Zambia Industrial Park in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, on August 26. The event focused on the appropriate use of resources and highlighted the company’s contributions to the local economy.
During the virtual tour, local host Lulu Wood guided guests through the expansive industrial park, featuring its state-of-the-art cement plant. She emphasized how the facility is not only boosting economic growth and infrastructure development but also enhancing local healthcare services and improving the quality of life for Zambians.
Established on October 15, 2016, and operational since July 26, 2018, the Zambia Industrial Park stands as a symbol of fruitful cooperation between China and Zambia. To date, the industrial park has paid over 70 million yuan (approximately 10.13 million U.S. dollars) in taxes to the local government and has created employment opportunities for 326 local residents.
The industrial park’s success reflects the positive impact of international investment in Africa’s development, fostering economic ties and cultural exchange between the two nations. CNBM’s commitment to sustainable practices and community development serves as a model for future projects in the region.
