Since the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013, cooperation between China and its partner nations has flourished, particularly in infrastructure, economy, and technology. These deepening ties have opened new opportunities for people worldwide to work with Chinese companies.
For Tereghla Abdallah, a secretary at the construction site of the Algeria North-South Expressway project, this cooperation has been life-changing. Working with China Construction Fifth Engineering Division Corporation Limited (CCFED), Abdallah has found not just a job, but a second family.
“The company is my second family,” Abdallah says with a smile. “Working here has allowed me to grow professionally and personally. I’ve learned so much about Chinese culture and work ethic.”
The Algeria North-South Expressway is a significant project that symbolizes the collaborative efforts between China and Algeria. For Abdallah, being a part of such a monumental endeavor is a source of pride.
“This project is transforming our country, improving connectivity and boosting economic development,” he explains. “Being involved in this makes me feel like I’m contributing to the future of Algeria.”
Abdallah’s story is one of many being highlighted in “The Faces,” a series sharing personal experiences of employees working in Chinese companies in their home countries. These stories underscore the positive impact of international cooperation and the opportunities arising from the Belt and Road Initiative.
“I’m grateful for the chance to work with CCFED,” Abdallah reflects. “It’s not just about the job; it’s about the relationships and understanding we’ve built together.”
