By day, Yang Mingjin runs a modest tire repair shop in China’s southwestern Yunnan province. But when night falls, he transforms into a beacon of entertainment for remote rural communities.
For the past 26 years since graduating from vocational school as a mechanic, Yang has been screening movies for free in the mountainous regions of Yunnan. Armed with his projection equipment and a collection of rented films, he ventures into the hills, bringing the magic of cinema to villagers far and wide.
His dedication has not only provided entertainment but also fostered a sense of community among the villagers. Children and adults alike gather under the stars, their faces illuminated by the flickering screen, sharing laughter and tears inspired by the stories unfolding before them.
Yang’s tireless commitment reflects a deep passion for enriching the lives of others. His efforts highlight the profound impact one individual can have on a community by sharing what they love.
