Yair Bunzel, an Israeli military veteran and anti-war activist, reflects on his experiences during the 1982 Lebanon War and expresses his hopes for a peaceful future between Israelis and Palestinians.
“Every war is brutal, and civilians are always paying the price,” Bunzel said, recalling the harsh realities of conflict. “Every dead, injured, and mentally or psychologically hurt person is damage for generations, not just the person himself.”
Despite the scars of war, Bunzel remains hopeful that lasting peace can be achieved. “In the end, you have to shut down the fire,” he emphasized. “Shutting down the fire means you sit with your enemy and you really search for a solution. I’m absolutely sure that the Palestinian nation and the Jewish nation will find a way to bring peace to Jerusalem and actually to the whole region.”
His message is clear: “Don’t look back. Look where you’re going.”
