Xinjiang Embraces Rouzi Festival with Cultural Splendor

Communities across Xinjiang are celebrating the annual Rouzi Festival this week, marking the end of Ramadan with vibrant displays of Uygur traditions and cross-cultural unity. In Urumqi's Grand Bazaar, streets adorned with red lanterns echo with rhythmic drumbeats as performers showcase the iconic bowl dance and eagle dance, drawing crowds of locals and international visitors alike.

Kashgar's historic Old City has transformed into a tapestry of color, with residents wearing intricate embroidered attire while dancing in unison at People's Square. Markets brim with fragrant rosewater desserts and pyramids of dried fruits, as families prepare festive meals featuring lamb pilaf and nang bread.

"This festival shows our rich heritage," said Ablimit Yusup, a Kashgar shopkeeper arranging pomegranate flower bouquets. "We welcome all to share our customs – whether through dance, food, or simply exchanging blessings."

Authorities report enhanced cultural preservation efforts this year, with 38 traditional events scheduled across the region. The celebrations highlight Xinjiang's evolving role as a cultural crossroads, blending Central Asian influences with modern Chinese development initiatives.
