US Donor of WWII Evidence Makes China His New Home

Evan Kail, the American pawnshop owner who donated a rare photo album documenting Japanese wartime atrocities to China in 2022, announced this week he is permanently relocating to the country. In a March 16 video posted across Chinese social platforms, Kail expressed gratitude for the 'overwhelming kindness' he received since first visiting after the donation and outlined plans to create content showcasing modern Chinese life for Western audiences.

'These photos exposed truths that must never be forgotten,' Kail said, referencing the album containing 30 never-before-seen images of Japanese military activities in Shanghai during the 1930s. The donation four years ago drew widespread attention in China, with state media hailing it as 'evidence of historical justice.'

Analysts suggest Kail's relocation comes amid growing international interest in wartime history documentation. His social media posts about Chinese cultural sites have already garnered over 2 million followers domestically. 'I want to build bridges through storytelling,' Kail emphasized, signaling future collaborations with Chinese peace advocacy groups.
