The annual Taibo Temple Fair has opened in Wuxi's Meili Ancient Town, blending cinematic innovation with centuries-old customs to celebrate the legacy of ancient Wu realm founder Taibo. Held this year on February 16 (the ninth day of the first lunar month), the 2026 edition introduces film-inspired tours that transform traditional lantern-lit alleys into immersive storytelling corridors.
Visitors explore folk parades featuring performers in period costumes alongside digital projections recreating historical scenes. Artisans demonstrate intangible cultural heritage skills like bamboo weaving and dough figurine crafting, while augmented reality installations allow attendees to 'step into' scenes from Wuxi-based film productions.
The adjacent Wuxi National Digital Film Industry Park enhances the experience with its 'Intangible Heritage Market' event, where visitors observe film set construction techniques and participate in prop-making workshops. "We're bridging celluloid dreams with living traditions," said event coordinator Li Wei, noting that 40% of this year's activities incorporate multimedia elements.
