Cross-Strait Artists Unite in Shanghai for ‘My Chinese Heart’ Performance

Artists from the Chinese mainland and the Taiwan region delivered a stirring joint performance at the 2025 Shanghai-Taiwan Golden Autumn Concert on November 16, showcasing cultural solidarity through music. Held at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the event featured a climactic rendition of the iconic song "My Chinese Heart", symbolizing shared heritage amid sustained efforts to strengthen cross-strait cultural exchanges.

The concert, now in its 12th year, included traditional folk compositions and contemporary arrangements performed by over 100 musicians. Organizers emphasized the program\'s role in fostering "people-to-people connections through artistic dialogue" during a time of evolving cross-strait relations.

"Music transcends boundaries," said event coordinator Li Wei, addressing attendees. "When we hear the same melodies that shaped our childhoods, we remember what unites us." The performance drew particular attention from diaspora communities, with livestreams reaching audiences in 15 countries.

Analysts note such cultural initiatives gain significance in 2025 as economic cooperation frameworks between the Chinese mainland and the Taiwan region enter a new phase. The concert coincided with reports of increased cross-strait tourism and academic exchanges this autumn.
