Kazakh Scholar Eyes Deeper China Ties in Smart Agriculture

At the Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo, Kazakh scholar Madina Tokmurzina spotlighted a growing partnership between Central Asia and the Chinese mainland in agricultural innovation. Speaking to KhabarAsia, Tokmurzina emphasized collaborative research between Lanzhou University and the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University under the Belt and Road framework.

"Our shared ecosystems – vast deserts and grasslands – demand smart solutions," said Tokmurzina, detailing how drone mapping and AI-driven data analysis are being tested to monitor forest health and optimize land use. "This isn’t just about technology exchange; it’s about building climate resilience across borders."

The project aligns with China’s push for "green development" through international partnerships, offering insights for investors eyeing sustainable agritech ventures. For Central Asian diaspora communities, it represents a bridge between ancestral homelands and cutting-edge ecological stewardship.

With 60% of Kazakhstan’s land classified as arid, researchers say cross-border knowledge sharing could redefine dryland agriculture – a potential blueprint for other Belt and Road regions.
