At the 8th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo, Egyptian hydrogeologist Mohamed Saleh Mohamed Youssef Shama emphasized the deepening cultural and ethical bonds between China and Egypt. The senior official from Cairo's Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation described both civilizations as "guardians of ancient wisdom," advocating for global cooperation rooted in mutual respect.
"Our nations share more than economic interests – we uphold common values of ethics, morality, and sustainable development," Shama stated during the forum. His remarks highlighted water resource management as a potential collaboration area, aligning with China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) goals.
The expo, attended by representatives from 60 countries and regions, showcased how historical trade routes continue to shape modern partnerships. Analysts note Egypt's strategic position in BRI infrastructure projects could create new opportunities in renewable energy and cross-border trade.
Cultural preservation emerged as another key theme, with Shama praising China's efforts to protect historical sites while pursuing technological innovation. The event concluded with delegates endorsing enhanced people-to-people exchanges through academic programs and tourism initiatives.
