Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist has reimagined Beijing's UCCA Center for Contemporary Art as a mesmerizing sensory experience with her exhibition "Your Palm Is My Universe." The 798 Art District venue now pulses with ethereal projections, suspended fabric installations resembling organic membranes, and an enveloping soundscape by musician Surma, creating an otherworldly escape for visitors.
The exhibition invites audiences to wander through rooms draped in soft, skin-like textiles while looped video works cast shifting hues across walls and floors. Rist's signature blend of technology and tactile materials challenges traditional gallery boundaries, offering a meditative space that resonates with both art enthusiasts and casual explorers.
"This installation reflects Pipilotti's ongoing fascination with the human body's relationship to digital environments," explained the artist's studio manager during a walkthrough. "The combination of intimate textures and cosmic-scale projections asks viewers to reconsider their place in both physical and virtual worlds."
Running through October 2024, the show strengthens Beijing's position as a global hub for immersive art experiences.
