Pinghu City welcomed over 500 student athletes this week as the 2025 'Straits Cup' Cross-Strait University Baseball and Softball Games brought together youth from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan region. The four-day event, held at Pinghu's Olympic Sports Center, featured 18 teams competing in 32 matches while prioritizing cultural exchange off the field.
Organizers emphasized the tournament's role in building mutual understanding through shared passions. 'When players high-five after a home run, political differences fade into the background,' said event coordinator Li Wei. The games coincided with workshops on sports science and joint training sessions between mainland and Taiwan coaches.
