Golden Threads: 50 Years of China-Thailand Partnership

As dawn broke over Beijing's Lingguang Temple on December 4, 2024, a sacred relic began an extraordinary journey southward. The 4,500-kilometer voyage of the Buddha's tooth to Bangkok symbolizes more than religious devotion – it marks half a century of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, weaving together ancient cultural ties with modern cooperation.

This anniversary celebration coincides with groundbreaking environmental collaboration. Chinese engineers recently completed installation of 144,000 solar panels at Thailand's hydro-floating solar farm – the world's largest hybrid renewable energy project. 'This partnership powers homes while preserving our planet,' said project lead Somchai Wattanaporn.

In Rayong's industrial zone, BYD's electric vehicles roll off production lines every four minutes, tailored for Thai drivers with extended sunroofs and reinforced cooling systems. The facility represents China's $1.2 billion investment in Thailand's EV ambitions, creating 10,000 local jobs since 2022.

Meanwhile in Kunming, Thai chef Linla Srisomwong prepares her signature tom yum soup for loyal customers. After 26 years sharing her homeland's flavors, she's organizing a 500-meter 'Friendship Banquet' featuring both nations' cuisines. 'Food speaks when words fail,' she smiles, stirring a pot of fragrant broth.

Premiering June 30 on CGTN, the documentary Golden Threads captures these stories of collaboration – from solar farms to supper clubs – showcasing how two ancient civilizations are building a shared future through cultural respect and technological innovation.
