Roses Blossom as Cultural Bridges at Beijing Expo

The 9th International Rose Conference and 12th China Rose Exhibition, held in Beijing’s Mentougou district from May 10–15, are painting the city in vivid hues of cross-cultural collaboration. Over 1,200 rose varieties from 30 countries and regions are on display, alongside themed gardens blending Chinese aesthetics with global horticultural traditions.

The event’s “Flower Young Life Festival” highlights sustainable urban gardening solutions, while rose-inspired art installations and textiles underscore the bloom’s economic potential. “This isn’t just about flowers—it’s a dialogue,” said one organizer, noting the dual focus on ecological innovation and cultural diplomacy.

Business analysts point to the conference’s role in China’s growing ‘flower economy,’ projected to reach $15 billion by 2025. Meanwhile, academic workshops explore roses’ historical significance along ancient trade routes, drawing parallels to modern cultural exchanges.
