MILAN – In a vibrant celebration of Sino-Italian cultural ties, the 2025 Shenzhen (Longhua)-Milan Dual-City Fashion Week launched its 'Art Beyond Boundaries' showcase on April 9, coinciding with the 55th anniversary of China-Italy diplomatic relations. The event, blending cutting-edge technology with centuries-old craftsmanship, drew over 150 global creatives to Milan’s design epicenter.
Robot Runway Debut Ignites Fusion Theme
The opening spectacle featured 'Kuafu,' a humanoid robot by Leju Robotics, modeling smart garments from Chinese brand HUI. Its synchronized dance with traditional embroiderers symbolized the event’s core philosophy: marrying Shenzhen’s tech prowess with Milan’s design heritage. 'This partnership transcends cities – it’s about shaping fashion’s digital future,' remarked Lombardy’s Tourism and Fashion Councillor Barbara Mazzali.
From Workshop to World Stage
Huang Limin of Shenzhen’s Longhua District highlighted the city’s industrial evolution: 'We’re transitioning from manufacturing hub to innovation leader through platforms like the new Shenzhen-Milan Fashion Trade Cooperation Office.' This initiative aims to fast-track Chinese brands into global markets via Milan’s fashion networks.
Renaissance Meets Robotics
The exhibition staged daring dialogues between eras – Renaissance masterpieces neighbored Shenzhen’s drone light shows and AI-powered eyewear. A standout was the 'Ziyun Tiancheng' porcelain series, its celestial motifs reinterpreted through 3D-printing techniques.
Running through April 14, the program includes panels on sustainable design and heritage crafts, cementing the dual-city model as a blueprint for cross-continental creative partnerships.
