Linxia in Northwest China: The Hometown of Painted Pottery

In northwest China’s Gansu Province, the Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture stands as a testament to ancient artistry, earning its title as the “hometown of painted pottery.” This region is home to numerous Majiayao cultural relics, featuring exquisitely colored ceramics that date back over 5,000 years.

Linxia is also one of the earliest regions in China to conduct archaeological work, with numerous prehistoric sites scattered throughout.
