Saudi Arabia Brings a Taste of Its Culture to Beijing
From October 18 to 26, Beijing is hosting a vibrant Saudi Arabian market, offering residents and visitors a unique glimpse into the culture, cuisine, and traditions of the Middle Eastern kingdom. The event is part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to entice more Chinese travelers to explore its rich heritage and scenic landscapes.
According to Alhasan Aldabbagh, President of APAC Markets of the Saudi Tourism Authority, the number of Chinese travelers visiting Saudi Arabia has doubled from 2023 to 2024. “We are looking forward to growing this number exponentially,” Aldabbagh told CGTN. “We are bringing all the key applications like Alipay, WeChat Pay, and UnionPay.”
By integrating popular Chinese payment platforms, Saudi Arabia aims to make travel more convenient and appealing to Chinese tourists. The market in Beijing showcases traditional Saudi crafts, culinary delights, and cultural performances, igniting curiosity and fostering connections between the two nations.
“As we continue to build bridges between our countries, we hope that more Chinese people will experience the warmth and hospitality of Saudi Arabia,” Aldabbagh added.
The initiative reflects a broader trend of Middle Eastern countries engaging with Asian markets, recognizing the potential of tourism to bolster economic ties and cultural exchange.
