The 5th Lushan International Romance Film Week commenced on Thursday in the scenic mountains of Lushan, nestled in Jiujiang City, east China’s Jiangxi Province. The event celebrates the timeless allure of romance through cinema, drawing filmmakers and enthusiasts from around the world.
This year’s festival intertwines the poetic charm of Lushan with a diverse array of activities. Attendees can look forward to a themed gala, screenings of love-themed films, showcases of new cinematic works, and forums for film exchange. Organized in collaboration with China Media Group (CMG), the event embraces both online and offline platforms, highlighting romantic traditions from ancient times to the present.
Lushan holds a special place in cinematic history. Forty-four years ago, the film “Romance on Lushan Mountain” was filmed here, setting multiple records and cementing the location’s status as a symbol of love and storytelling. Since then, Lushan has become a sought-after backdrop for filmmakers seeking its romantic ambiance.
This year, the festival will feature screenings of 21 romance films from both China and abroad in Jiujiang, offering audiences a rich tapestry of love stories that transcend cultures and borders. The film week not only promotes cultural exchange but also contributes to the growth of the global film industry.
