Beijing’s Subway Line 2 is offering passengers a unique journey through the city’s rich history with the introduction of a special themed train highlighting the iconic Beijing Central Axis.
The train is adorned with vibrant designs both inside and out, showcasing the 15 heritage sites along the Central Axis. Passengers can immerse themselves in the history and significance of these landmarks through colorful illustrations and informative signage as they commute through the heart of the Chinese capital.
Scheduled to operate from September 7, 2024, to March 7, 2025, the themed train provides an engaging and educational experience for both locals and visitors. It brings to life the stories behind Beijing’s most treasured sites, making the city’s cultural heritage accessible to all.
The Beijing Central Axis, an ensemble of historic and cultural landmarks that runs through the city’s center, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List on July 27. This recognition highlights the global importance of the Central Axis as a symbol of China’s rich cultural heritage.
