19th Changchun Film Festival Celebrates China’s Cinematic Legacy

The 19th China Changchun Film Festival (CCFF), themed “New Era, New Cradle, New Power,” kicked off on Wednesday in Changchun, the capital city of Jilin Province.

As one of the oldest major Chinese film festivals and the first national-level film festival named after a Chinese city, the CCFF has been a significant platform for showcasing China’s cinematic achievements since its inception in 1992.

Changchun holds a special place in China’s film history. Known as “the cradle of modern China’s film industry,” the city is home to the Changchun Film Studio, founded on October 1, 1945. Over the decades, the studio has produced and dubbed more than 3,600 films, witnessing the rise of countless cinematic dreams and creating seven “firsts” in the history of China’s film industry.

This year’s festival not only highlights the rich legacy of Changchun’s film industry but also looks forward to cultivating new talents and exploring new directions in Chinese cinema. Attendees can expect a range of activities celebrating the achievements of Changchun Film Studio and exploring the future of filmmaking in China.

Let’s delve into the highlights of this year’s CCFF and celebrate the enduring spirit of Chinese cinema that continues to thrive in Changchun.
