Overseas Chinese Youth from France Reconnect with Roots on China Tour

During the 2024 Paris Olympics, a group of 120 young overseas Chinese students from France embarked on a transformative journey back to their ancestral homeland. Over a three-week study tour in China, these students explored major cities, immersed themselves in cultural and educational activities, and deepened their understanding of their roots.

The initiative, which coincides with the 60th anniversary of China-France diplomatic relations, aimed to strengthen ties between the two nations by fostering cultural exchange and mutual understanding among the younger generation.

Participants visited iconic landmarks in Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi’an, engaging with local communities and learning about China’s rich history and traditions. They attended workshops on traditional arts such as calligraphy and martial arts, and visited universities to explore educational opportunities.

“This trip has been eye-opening,” said Liu Yan, a 20-year-old student studying in Paris. “It has allowed me to connect with my heritage in a profound way and consider future opportunities in China.”

The tour not only provided personal growth for the participants but also served as a bridge between China and France, emphasizing the importance of cultural understanding in an increasingly globalized world.

As these young overseas Chinese return to France, they bring with them a renewed sense of identity and a deeper connection to their heritage, contributing to the ongoing friendship between China and France.
