Young Poets from BRICS Countries Unite in Beijing for Cultural Exchange

Over 70 young poets from ten countries, including Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and China, gathered in Beijing on Wednesday for a seminar as part of the First International Youth Poetry Festival’s Special Session for BRICS Countries.

The event provided a platform for these emerging poets to discuss the value, inheritance, and innovation of poetry in today’s world, emphasizing poetry’s role as a bridge for communication and exchange among different countries and peoples.

Participants recognized the longstanding history of cultural exchanges among BRICS nations and shared a common vision for fostering deeper cross-cultural learning and strengthening people-to-people ties through such literary gatherings.

They expressed hope that more cultural exchange activities among BRICS countries would be held to continue promoting understanding and collaboration.

The Special Session for BRICS Countries was part of the larger First International Youth Poetry Festival, held in Hangzhou and Beijing between July 18 and 24. The festival featured literary activities such as academic discussions and poetry recitals, aimed at nurturing the next generation of poets and promoting cultural understanding.

The success of the seminar underscores the potential of artistic collaboration in enhancing mutual respect and friendship among nations, with participants eagerly anticipating future opportunities for cultural exchange within the BRICS framework.
