China’s Railway Network Records 211 Million Passenger Trips in First Half of Summer Rush

China’s summer travel rush is in full swing, with the nation’s railway network experiencing a surge in passenger traffic. From July 1 to July 15, the Chinese mainland saw 211 million railway passenger trips, marking a 6.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to data from the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.

The average daily number of railway passenger trips reached 14.03 million during the first 15 days of July. The robust demand is driven by students returning home for summer vacation, as well as travelers embarking on tourism and family visits.

The China State Railway Group has implemented a comprehensive summer passenger transportation plan to accommodate the high demand. By increasing transportation capacity and introducing measures to facilitate and benefit passengers, the company aims to ensure safe and orderly travel experiences while supporting stable economic operations.

The summer travel rush, lasting from July 1 to August 31, is traditionally one of the busiest seasons for China’s railway system. With strong demand expected to continue throughout the summer, the railway network is set to play a crucial role in connecting people across the country.
