In Kuqa City, Aksu Prefecture, in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Dragon Boat Festival—also known as Duanwu Festival—was celebrated with a vibrant children’s modeling contest.

Accompanied by lively and dynamic music, over 50 young contestants showcased their fashion flair in a variety of meticulously designed outfits at the renowned Qiuci Alley, named after the ancient name of Kuqa.

Qiuci Alley is a popular cultural hotspot lined with traditional Uygur houses, each adorned with lush green courtyards. Renowned for its unique ancient architecture and decorations, the area offers visitors a glimpse into the daily lives of local residents.

Festival-goers explored the historic alleyways, enjoyed traditional Uygur cuisine, and immersed themselves in the rich cultural heritage that the area offers. The children’s fashion show added a contemporary twist to the historical charm, highlighting the cultural diversity and unity of the region.

“It’s wonderful to see the children embracing their culture and traditions,” said a local resident. “Events like this bring our community together and showcase the beauty of our heritage.”
