CMG Celebrates 60 Years of China-France Ties with Cultural Exchange

During Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent state visit to France, the China Media Group (CMG) hosted a vibrant cultural exchange celebration to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. The event highlighted the deepening ties between the two nations and showcased a series of high-quality Sino-French co-productions in film, television, and integrated media products.

A significant highlight of the celebration was the signing of a cooperation memorandum between CMG and Euronews, Europe’s leading international news channel. This partnership signifies a strengthening of media collaboration, aiming to enhance cross-cultural understanding and provide audiences with enriched content stemming from both nations’ perspectives.

Prominent figures from both China and France attended the event and delivered speeches, emphasizing the importance of continued friendship and collaboration. Laurent Fabius, president of the Constitutional Council and former French prime minister, reflected on the historical significance of the bilateral relationship. Jean-Pierre Raffarin, president of the Prospective and Innovation Foundation and former French prime minister, spoke about future prospects for Sino-French cooperation.

Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and president of CMG, emphasized the role of media in bridging cultures and fostering mutual understanding. Brice Lalonde, former French Minister for the Environment and former secretary-general of the United Nations, highlighted environmental collaboration as a key area for partnership. Éric Alauzet, president of the France-China Friendship Group of the French National Assembly, reiterated the importance of people-to-people exchanges in strengthening the bond between the two nations.

The celebration not only commemorated six decades of diplomatic ties but also set the stage for future collaborations in various sectors, reinforcing the dynamic and influential role of China and France in global affairs.
