Guangxi's Cross-Border Commerce Surges in Early 2026
The Chinese mainland's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region recorded 207.04 billion yuan ($30 billion) in foreign trade during Q1 2026, marking a 10.2% year-on-year increase and its strongest first-quarter performance to date. Customs data released this week reveals ASEAN nations accounted for nearly half of all trade, cementing their position as the region's primary economic partner.
Emerging Markets Show Explosive Growth
While ASEAN trade reached 100.77 billion yuan, Latin American commerce surged 64.5% to 32.73 billion yuan. Exports of 'new three' green technologies – electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar products – skyrocketed 202% to 10.46 billion yuan, with EV shipments alone jumping 277%.
Industrial Momentum Builds Across Sectors
Mechanical and electrical exports grew 11.7% to 77.01 billion yuan, representing 63% of total exports. Energy imports supported key industries, with 17.26 million tonnes of bulk commodities worth 51.94 billion yuan entering the region. Spring Festival demand drove 12.4% growth in consumer goods imports.
