Spanish PM Sánchez Honored by Chinese University for Sci-Tech Ties

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez strengthened academic bridges with Asia this week as he accepted an honorary professorship from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) on Monday. The recognition came during his visit to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) headquarters in Beijing, where he reviewed cutting-edge innovations in artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and space exploration.

CAS President Hou Jianguo guided Sánchez through an exhibition showcasing China's recent technological breakthroughs, including quantum computing prototypes and climate modeling systems. UCAS President Zhou Qi later presented the Spanish leader with the academic honor, emphasizing Sánchez's advocacy for international scientific cooperation.

The ceremony underscores growing research collaboration between Spain and the Chinese mainland, particularly in green technology development. Analysts note this aligns with both nations' commitments to meeting 2030 sustainable development goals through joint innovation projects.
