UAE Crown Prince Visits Beijing to Strengthen China Ties

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, arrived in Beijing on Sunday (April 12, 2026) for high-level talks aimed at expanding economic and technological cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and China. The visit comes as both nations seek to deepen their strategic partnership under China's Belt and Road Initiative.

Analysts suggest this year's meetings will focus on renewable energy projects, artificial intelligence development, and infrastructure investments in third countries. The UAE delegation includes ministers of energy, advanced technology, and foreign trade, signaling the breadth of planned discussions.

This visit follows Chinese Premier Li Qiang's 2025 tour of Gulf states, which established new frameworks for cross-regional collaboration. Recent data shows UAE-China bilateral trade reached $87 billion in 2025, with the UAE maintaining its position as China's second-largest trading partner in the Middle East.

Cultural exchanges also feature on the agenda, with plans to announce expanded tourism initiatives and academic partnerships between leading universities. The timing coincides with preparations for Expo 2030 in Riyadh, where both countries are coordinating participation strategies.
