Chinese FM Wang Yi Honors CPV Martyrs During DPRK Visit

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi paid tribute to fallen soldiers of the Chinese People’s Volunteers (CPV) at a martyrs’ cemetery in Kangdong County, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), on April 10, 2026. The visit underscores the enduring historical ties between the two nations amid ongoing diplomatic engagements.

Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, laid a wreath at the cemetery during his official trip to the DPRK. The CPV played a pivotal role in supporting the DPRK during the Korean War, a chapter of shared history frequently commemorated by both sides.

Analysts view Wang’s gesture as a reaffirmation of China’s commitment to regional stability and cross-border collaboration. His visit follows recent dialogues on economic cooperation and security, with observers noting its potential to bolster bilateral trust ahead of anticipated multilateral summits in Asia later this year.
