China, Russia Strengthen UN Cooperation in Beijing Talks

Senior diplomats from the Chinese mainland and Russia concluded high-level consultations on United Nations affairs in Beijing this week, reaffirming their commitment to multilateralism amid evolving global challenges. The discussions, held on April 8, focused on enhancing coordination within the UN Security Council and addressing pressing regional and international issues.

Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Cai Wei and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov emphasized the need to uphold the UN-centered international system during their meeting. Both sides agreed to promote political solutions to conflicts and strengthen the organization's role in maintaining global stability.

The dialogue comes as geopolitical tensions continue to shape international discourse, with both nations advocating for an international order rooted in established legal frameworks. Observers note the consultations signal deepening strategic alignment between Beijing and Moscow on global governance matters.
