China has finalized its roster for the 2026 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals in London, announcing a blend of seasoned champions and rising stars. The event, scheduled for April 28 to May 10, will see the defending champions aim to extend their historic dominance in the sport.
The men's team features world No. 1 Wang Chuqin and 19-year-old prodigy Lin Shidong, who secured automatic qualification through rankings. Veterans Zhou Qihao and Xiang Peng earned their spots through rigorous team trials, while 29-year-old Liang Jingkun received a coach's selection nod. On the women's side, Olympic gold medalist Sun Yingsha leads a powerhouse lineup alongside Wang Manyu, with Chen Xingtong, Kuai Man, and Wang Yidi completing the roster through trial performances.
This year's selection highlights China's strategic balance between maintaining its unparalleled championship record – 11 consecutive men's titles and six straight women's victories – and nurturing new talent. The London event marks the first major international test for several younger players ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Table tennis analysts note the roster reflects China's continued investment in youth development, with five of the ten squad members under 25. The team will undergo final preparations in Chengdu before departing for London on April 25.
