In a landmark tripartite operation, authorities from the Chinese mainland, Thailand, and Vietnam dismantled a transnational drug manufacturing ring on Thursday, April 2, 2026, arresting 41 suspects across coordinated raids. The operation marks one of the most significant anti-narcotics collaborations in Southeast Asia this year.
Targeting three production sites, law enforcement agencies seized 6 kg of solid etomidate – a controlled anesthetic increasingly abused as a recreational drug – and 65 liters of its liquid form. Authorities also confiscated 15 kg of kratom leaves, 5 tonnes of precursor chemicals, and industrial-scale manufacturing equipment.
"This operation demonstrates our commitment to combating cross-border crime through regional cooperation," stated a joint release from the participating nations' anti-drug agencies. The crackdown follows months of intelligence sharing, with officials noting the network had distributed substances across multiple countries and regions.
